So, as some know, I've been learning Korean through self-study.

I've been doing REALLY well with reading. This website has been a huge help with studying:

http://www.aeriagloris.com/LearnKorean/

It doesn't help with initial - medial - final phonetic translation, but its a huge help in general and makes learning the phonetic reading much, much easier to pick up.

So I can now read simple words and phrases... Even if I don't have enough of a vocabulary to understand what I'm reading. haha

But its a step closer. It means I can start really making the most use out of my textbooks and work books since I can now use Hangul exclusively with my flash cards and such.

My awesome MIL sent us some practice books and a Manwha publication sort of like the American "Shounen jump". Which has small samplings of various graphic novels in it. Its going to be fun for us to read and translate it together. :)

I'm going to try and write at least one whole paragraph in Hangul to my Korean penpal on my next letter to her. Its going to be horribly written, but I have to try. haha

So, I just got back from Florida on Tuesday.

I had a lot of fun visiting family, but its good to be back home with Bobby. I missed him. <3

I did way too much shopping in Florida. So much so that I filled all three of my bags and still have to have three large priority boxes mailed home. -.- eh heh.

But what could be done? I found so many nice things. Like awesome designer fabric at a yard sale. Vintage playing cards for crafts and swaps. A 1930s edition of Alice in Wonderland, illustrated. A 1886 copy of "Dream World". A variety of other books... Lots of books...

I also got some presents for Bobby at the Fossil Outlet and a top and charm from the Juicy Couture outlet. The charm I picked up was the Lucky Cat (Maneki Neko) charm.

I had a BLAST playing with my nephew. And was happy to be present for his first birthday. He is amazing. Lots of energy, smiles and giggles. And SO cute! I gave him Dinosaur PJs and the Kota & Pals stegosaurus for his birthday. He liked the PJs more. Figures. lol I'm proud of my sister, she is doing an amazing job as a mother. It takes a LOT of energy to keep up with him, a few hours and I'm exhausted. So I've nothing but respect for her. And I thought Patriot was exhausting to play with. haha

My sister and I also took him to Waffle House and he tried everything we had. Hashbrowns, waffle, chili, grits, tea. The works. And he liked all of it.

I also dyed my hair while I was down there. Its a blond, silver ash, pink and black mix. I'm very happy with it. :) And the stylist, Chuck, was an absolute blast. He is actually my Mother's stylist. But we had a lot of fun with dying my hair.

I also learned to cook a few new dishes while there. Mom showed me how to do two different fried chicken recipes. Fried cube steak. Peach Cobbler (YUM!) and Braised cabbage. <3

I plan to make Fried cube steak, squash, braised cabbage, mashed potatoes and peach cobbler for July 4th! Hopefully it will all turn out well.

And of course, I'll be making Kimbap too. Bobby's favorite.

Patriot was initially happy to see me. Until he realized that with me back in the house, the rules are back too. Bobby let him run wild while I was gone. So as soon as he heard a firm "SIT"... He went from hyper to bummed.

Freya was happy to see me though. She hasn't even bitten me yet since I've been back! All cuddles and purrs. Now lets see how long that lasts. haha

And Bobby was, of course, happy to see me as well. He picked up a lovely bracelet for me at Juicy Couture to surprise me with when I came home. <3 He is so wonderful. And already trying to drive me batty...

On the subject of Juicy Couture, I'm really hating the new jewelry boxes. Very cheapy and not very cute. I'm also not really liking the new line by Erin Fetherston. For the most part, its drab, cheesy and tacky. Especially the new Terry and Velour bags. Then again, I've never been to fond of the Terry and Velour bags. So maybe thats just me.

Well, I'm going to do some Korean study for a bit. Maybe my next post will be about Korean language resources and websites I've come across.
